Mazel Tov to the 2024 JCF Scholarship Award Recipients!

To celebrate the 2024 JCF Scholarship Award recipients, the Jewish Community Foundation, Inc. held a Scholarship Awards Reception on Tuesday, May 28 at the Katz JCC. Nearly 70 people attended the event.

Collectively, $38,000 in financial support was provided, thanks to JCF donors who established scholarship award endowment funds or made individual contributions.

Of the 20 recipients, pictured above are 11 who were able to attend the event with their loved ones and received a certificate (front row l-r): Hannah Fritzsche, Natalie Desmond, Macy Desmond, Asher Kreisman, and Ross Koenig, with (back l-r) A.J. Spector, Ella Alfassy, Max Hann, Morgan Hann, Maya Ezran, and Charlotte Berman.

Also taking part in the event were numerous JCF donors, Board members, and staff, including (at right, l-r) Col. Nelson Mellitz of the Jewish War Veterans Post 126, JCF Treasurer Larry Bernstein, JCF Board member and award donor Harv Cohen, JCF and Federation CEO Jennifer Dubrow Weiss, Scholarship Committee Chair and award donor Carol Hirschfeld, JCF President Andi Levin, and JCF Executive Director David Snyder.

The JCF would also like to recognize Joshua Bagelle, Kye Binik, Yisrael Epstein, Rachel Hornstein, Noah Kaplan, Lisa Kessler, Amanda Lane, Sophie Neuwirth, and Gabriel Sokolic for the awards they received.

Speaking at the event were JCF President Andi Levin, who opened the program, providing an overview of the JCF. Then, Devon Leslie spoke about receiving the Patrice Faye Cohen Memorial Scholarship Award and the Valerie Gladfelter Scholarship Award in 2017 and some lessons she learned from her college and career experiences. Following Devon, Harv Cohen, who, along with his mother, Sylvia (z"l), started the award in memory of his sister Patrice, talked about his sister's success as an entrepreneur and why it was so meaningful to remember her with a scholarship award endowment fund. Then, the JCF Scholarship Committee Chair Carol Roth announced and presented the awards. To close, David Snyder congratulated all recipients.

Dessert and refreshments were served at the event, and many awardees had the chance to meet the donors who created their awards as well as JCF Board members and Scholarship Committee members who were in attendance. The program lasted a little over one hour-- it was a memorable gathering as always!

We wish a hearty mazel tov to the 2024 JCF Scholarship Award recipients and their families, thank you all who attended the reception, and we wish you the best in your next endeavors!
