JCF Welcomes Kathy Sarlson to Life & Legacy Thank You Reception

Kathy Sarlson, the National Director of Life & Legacy for the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, visited Cherry Hill on November 14 and shared some remarks as part of the JCF's Life & Legacy Thank You Reception that was targeted to local individuals who have made a legacy commitment to local Jewish organizations or who have an existing endowment fund with the JCF.

The event drew some 30 legacy donors who enjoyed complimentary dinner as well as a ticket to the Katz JCC's Festival of Arts, Books & Culture event later in the evening.

Speaking during the program, Sarlson noted that our Jewish community faces many challenges in today's world, but we should also look at positive developments, saying, "Amid these challenges, there are also profound sources of hope. We see communities mobilizing, standing shoulder to shoulder to protect our synagogues, schools, and community centers. As Rabbi Sharon Brous inspired us during the GA (Jewish Federation of North America's General Assembly), “We are stronger when we come together, when we unify across differences and build communities of meaning.” New programs and partnerships are strengthening security and bolstering our advocacy for peace and justice. These efforts are the embodiment of Jewish values in action—our enduring commitment to tikkun olam, repairing the world, and ensuring every Jewish soul has a place to call home."

In addition, with tens of thousands of individuals across the continent stepping up to commit to leaving a legacy through the Life & Legacy initiative, Sarlson said that this is a beacon of hope and "It is a living testament to the power of one generation’s commitment to the next. By creating endowments and supporting legacy gifts, you are providing the resources to sustain our cherished programs, preserve our culture, and nurture future leaders who will carry on our traditions with pride and conviction."

Following Sarlson's speech, several guests shared about why they are choosing to leave a legacy and for what organizations, such as their synagogue, the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and others.

We here at the JCF always enjoy spending time with our legacy donors as they have great dedication to our SNJ Jewish community, and we are happy to express a hearty thank you for their support through legacy giving. Thank you!

In all, over 600 individuals have committed to leaving a legacy gift to benefit Jewish organizations in Burlington, Camden, & Gloucester counties. In addition, the JCF manages nearly $40 million in endowment funds to benefit a wide variety of charitable causes, based on each donor's wishes.
