Endowment Fund Supports Sanders Library's Future

endowment fund Sanders Library's future

Now that school is back in session, many children and families may be venturing to libraries to borrow books, perform research, and enjoy some quiet study time.

It's timely, then, to note that the Katz JCC has its own library on premises, known as the Harold L. Sanders Memorial Library. Per the Katz JCC's website:

The Katz JCC is home to the Sanders Memorial Library, the only Jewish library open to everyone in the South Jersey community. Our up-to-date book collection spans a variety of genres, DVDs, audio books, CDs, large print books and Kindles! Whether you are looking for an occasional new read or a gift for a book lover, we hold quarterly used book sales where all books are discounted at a great price.

About the Harold Sanders Memorial Library Endowment Fund

This special corner of the JCC is made possible in large part thanks to community leader Marcy Sanders, who established a generous endowment fund with the Jewish Community Foundation, Inc. in 2003 to spin off annual income, ensuring that the library would continue to benefit our community for future generations. The fund serves as a meaningful and lasting Jewish legacy to her late husband, Harold (z"l).

In addition, Marcy and Harold established an endowment fund in 1993 to benefit the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey's JFund Annual Campaign. This fund spins off annual dollars to support the needs of the community in so many ways.

As a past President of the Federation who was intimately involved in the building of the current Federation campus in the 1990s, the library and the services provided by the Federation are of utmost importance to Marcy.

In the brief accompanying video, learn more about Marcy and her interest in creating these two endowment funds, in a 2022 interview with her.

We thank Marcy and remember Harold for their generosity and desire to aid our community with vital and lasting financial support.
