About the Foundation

Jaimi and David Levy founded the Levy Castle Family Foundation as an effort to assist finding a cure for diabetes.

Their son, Jack Levy, was diagnosed a Type 1 diabetic at the age of three years old. More recently, Jack's older brother, Sam, was also diagnosed with diabetes, at the age of 19. Of note-- there is no history of diabetes in the family.

The Levy Castle Family Foundation partnered with the JCF in 2013, enabling the JCF to serve as the fiscal sponsor to help streamline the process of managing funds raised and other administrative tasks.

Annual Fundraisers

The Foundation's annual basketball tournament, held at the Philadelphia 76ers' Wells Fargo Center, is the largest fundraiser for the Foundation, and is held in winter. The tournament gives local basketball players the opportunity to play on the Sixers' court before a game, compete for prizes, and enjoy a Sixers game afterwards.

To participate in the 2017 tournament on Friday, March 3, download the application here!

In 2015, the basketball tournament raised $20,000 for diabetes research. Among the participants in the event were former NBA player and Philly local, Alvin Williams, and the Sixers' CEO Scott O'Neil. Click here to view the tournament's coverage on Channel 6 News!

The Foundation also participates every fall with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes, as well as the JDRF Promise Ball, which is the gala held by the local Philadelphia Southeastern region's JDRF chapter event.
